Park(ing) Day in Uptown Charlotte

,

Update: PARK(ing) Day has passed and it was a great success. The event was enjoyed my hundreds of pedestrians and got people thinking about how public spaces can impact their community. Thanks again to everyone who participated. To see our space as well as all others, check out the photos below.

This Friday, September 19th, we are participating in PARK(ing) Day in our hometown of Charlotte, along with other local companies and organizations. PARK(ing) Day is a global initiative that turns parking spaces into temporary parks, or parklets, for a day. This year several parking spaces along Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte will be converted and accessible to the public from 10am to 6pm. The project is part of the Tactical Urbanismmovement and is intended to show how seemingly mundane spaces that we take for granted every day, can be used as public areas with benches, greenery, tables, and even free libraries.

We’re proud to contribute to PARK(ing) Day along with our partners Charlotte Center City Partners, Lawrence Group, and Neighboring Concepts. Use the graphic below find our signature shipping container space, and then come on out and say “Hi!”. When you do, be sure to tweet to us @boxmanstudios.
