In partnership with Compass Group, Missouri University of Science and Technology opened their Mediterranean container restaurant, Zatar. MS&T needed new dining options for their on-campus student body. And, with students arriving soon, a traditional stick-built restaurant wasn’t an option. So, Boxman Studios developed a containerized modular solution to provide students with a quick-serve Mediterranean restaurant the same day their spring semester began.
Ability to transport the units was a determining factor when choosing Boxman’s purpose-built units. Boxman provided all of the logistical services to get the unit from Charlotte, NC to the Missouri campus, including professional shrink wrap, drivers, trucks, and trailers to deliver the units, onsite labor and a crane needed to set the units up, and coordinating with the general contractors to hook up the unit’s plumbing and electrical utilities.
A typical build timeframe for a stick-built quick-serve is six to twelve (6-12) months. By utilizing Boxman’s standard build processes and manufacturing capabilities, MS&T’s newest restaurant’s speed-to-market was able to be fully functional within the week of its arrival. Boxman truncated their speed-to-market by months.
